2001 STATE'S TOP EXPORTERS
Advanced Silicon Materials, LLC (ASiMi) of Silver Bow, Montana has been named Montana’s 2001 Exporter of the Year. ASiMi is a leading manufacturer of ultra-high purity polycrystaline silicon rod and chunk for the semi-conductor industry. ASiMi is also the world’s largest manufacturer and major supplier of silane gas for the semi-conductor, glass and other industries. The majority of ASiMi’s product is exported to Japan and Germany, resulting in nearly 80% of the company’s total sales. ASiMi is located on a 240-acre site in Silver Bow, Montana and employs 207 people.
Pasta Montana, LLC of Great Falls, Montana has been selected to receive the Export Marketing Program Award for 2001. This award is in recognition of the company’s excellence and effectiveness of individual marketing programs conducted in an effort to develop or increase export sales of Montana products or services.
Pasta Montana, LLC began production in the fall of 1997 in Great Falls, Montana, and today is one of newest and most modern state-of-the-art dry pasta making facilities in North America. In early 1999, Nippon Flour Mills, Japan’s oldest industrial flour miller and a leading producer of flour-related products for industrial, food service and consumer use in Japan and elsewhere, joined Pasta Montana’s growing list of large volume export customers. Then in the Spring of 2000, Nippon, recognizing Pasta Montana’s high quality pasta manufacturing capabilities and its global potential took it a step further and made the strategic decision to purchase a majority ownership in Pasta Montana. Today, Pasta Montana is continuing in the rich tradition of making the world’s finest pasta products, but it now has all the technical, management and financial resources of a global corporation behind it. Pasta Montana’s total export sales in 2000, were $8.5 million, with the majority of their products being exported to Canada and Japan.
Emerald BioAgriculture Corporation of Butte, Montana will be receiving a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of their achievement in making a significant timely export sale. Emerald BioAgriculture Corporation is a leader in the emerging field of bioagriculture the use of biological and biochemical agents to improve crop yields, enhance quality, combat disease and fight pests. Emerald BioAgriculture operates out of a 16,000-sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Butte, Montana and produces high quality, low-cost fungal spores used in the company’s fungal-based products. This is the world’s only facility of this type and capacity. Currently Emerald BioAgriculture ships product to Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia and Denmark, with plans of adding Spain, Chile, Ecuador and Costa Rica during 2001.
Governor Martz will recognize award winners at a 2:30 p.m. awards presentation Monday, April 3o, 2001, in the Governor’s Reception Room at the State Capitol in Helena.
The Governor's Excellence in Exporting Awards are presented annually by the Montana District Export Council (DEC). The DEC is a statewide organization of individuals, including export service providers, federal and state agencies, businesses, universities, and trade associations working to promote the export of Montana products, and to provide assistance to firms seeking to start or expand international sales.
