AMERICAN CHEMET, East Helena

American Chemet has grown its export business over the past ten years to become the largest copper oxide producer in the world. Their copper oxides are used as the active ingredient in marine anti-fouling paints and are sold around the world to every continent, except Antarctica. American Chemet’s exported copper oxides are also used as an agricultural fungicide and their cupric oxide is used in glass making and ceramic operations

RDM MULTI-ENTERPRISES, Anaconda

RDM has grown its export business over the past years to the point where exports amount to over 40% of total sales. A byproduct of the Anaconda Smelter operation, the slag is refined and processed to make it a desirable product for sandblasting and roofing materials.

Quad Five is involved in exporting donor animal blood fractions, including whole blood for diagnostic test kits and culture media and serum for diagnostics cell culture and vaccine manufacturing. Importation of animal blood products is closely controlled in most foreign countries. An exporter needs specific certification from U.S. authorities as to the disease status of the donor animals. Delivery is also a critical factor and delays in clearing customs can add one to three days to transit times. Quad Five continues to explore alternate means of transportation to improve delivery times and control freight costs.

SENATOR MAX BAUCUS
Senator Baucus has been a long-time advocate and leader in promoting international trade in Montana. His efforts have opened new markets and grown existing ones to the benefit of Montana companies.
